What Are Threaded Studs?

Threaded studs, also called threaded rods, are used to connect two parts in tension. Threaded rods may have one or more threads that span the entire length of the rod. They are often referred to as “all-thread” rods when they come in bar stock form.

Threaded studs can be welded, stuck or mounted to a work surface. Some types are double-end and include equal-length threads on either end. Thread length is crucial for a secure fit.  These fasteners are available in a wide range of sizes, grades, and materials. They are an ideal choice for a wide range of applications.

Threaded studs are usually made of stainless steel. Some of them are double-end studs. These are often used for flange bolting and applications where torching is required from both ends. Most steel grades can be ordered in production quantities. Type 2 continuous thread studs are made to the specification ASTM A193 grade B7.
